Frequently Asked Questions - Environment

What effect am I having on the environment by using timber?

All Bakers Timber buildings are produced using timber from sources dedicated to the principle of 'sustained yield' and are FSC or PEFC accredited.

For each mature tree harvested, two young trees are planted. Young trees for old helps the environment by reducing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, is a result of producing energy. It takes approximately five times the energy to produce a reinforced concrete beam and nineteen times the energy to produce an RSJ, compared to a timber beam or joist of the same strength. We at Bakers remain supportive to the principle of efficient forestry management on a sustained yield basis.

What timber do you use?

Here at Bakers we pride ourselves on our good quality timber. We use European red and white woods, commonly known as 'Deal'. All the timber is selected by our staff keeping high quality and continuity at forefront of every build.
