"We found Bakers by chance after two years of researching possible solutions to our garden building idea. Bakers was the only company that we approached who would do a site visit - essential in our view - in fact Martin visited twice and encouraged us also to visit Bakers' base in Sussex so we could clarify our thoughts and look around a variety of different options. In fact Martin could not have been more helpful. Through bouncing our ideas and Bakers' flexible ethos to each project, Martin soon came to understand and share our vision, coming up with the brilliant solution we now have - a space for the boys as well as perfect storage for our bikes, roof box and other garden items. We chose to clear the site of the existing building but this presented no problem with Bakers. Starting on time as promised, the new building went up incredibly quickly and despite the appalling spring weather, the whole team worked without complaint! In fact it was because of the weather that some of the garden required returfing but that along with the other inevitable little snags was resolved quickly and without any fuss. Martin returned at the end to check that all was as it should be, and to take the photos! Our garden room and store have provided us with the much needed extra space for our teenagers to chill out, and is the boast of the neighbourhood, admired (and envied) by all! Many thanks to the whole Bakers team for helping us to realize this project; your flexibility, individual approach and attention to detail makes it easy to recommend you."
Mr and Mrs G had an old prefabricated garage at the bottom of their garden looking which they were looking to have dismantled and removed and replaced with a large garden room for their growing children, and a dedicated bike store. After the site visit, a full quotation was submitted. As always we offer a final quotation and not an estimate for the work, so you know the exact cost before you commit.
The customer decided to dismantle and dispose of the garage themselves and once this was done we then installed a steel and timber frame base that incorporated the concrete base of the garage. The timber frame base also included a 1.5 m extension frame for a decking area to the front. At the same time we were to install a close board fence to the rear of the garden with the gate.
Due to the layout the bike store was accessed via two sets of double doors to the left-hand side, with the right side being the garden room with sliding doors. Due to the size of the building and proximity to the boundary the entire building was made within the 2.5 m planning rule, and also was manufactured with the firebreak wall to both rear and right hand side with an upgraded insulation.
We also installed the electrics that included, heating, lighting, and internet connection along with TV cables. After the building was finished we made good the surrounding ground and even re-turfed some areas.
