This customer was looking to move their successful company out of the house and into the garden.
This is a common situation that we come across. We can accommodate from a small 8x6ft Jay one-man office, through to something like this 24x12ft 3-6 man office. As this was going to be used all day every day the client wanted a nice feel for a workspace. Working with the client we agreed that extra height would be ideal, and due to the position of this against the boundaries, planning permission was needed.
Here at Bakers we really do offer the complete package including planning permission, and a site survey was arranged with our planning adviser who not only takes care of the application and drawings, but also advises on the strongest application with regards to height positions, final colours etc. We produced a set of drawings and once the customer had signed them off an application was made on their behalf and permission granted.
Along with the regular elements for a garden office that include lining and installation, the customer included the most efficient double glazing on the market. These are bio-coolight, argon gas, warm edge Planitherm units. The bio-coolight stops the heat of normal double glazing from coming in the building in the summer and also has a self-cleaning coating on it. The warm edge argon gas makes the cavity the most efficient available reducing heat transfer from front to back glass, while the Planitherm technology keeps the heat in all through the winter.
Along with the painted internals, electrics and climate control we fitted the newly invented Luna wood decking to the front of the office, attached a facade to the front of the building, and built a small Kestrel summerhouse so they can get away from the office environment.
