Garden Room Case Study 4952

Customer Comment:
"We have just recently had a summer house installed to the bottom of our back garden and we must say how excited we were to have this carried out.
We went with Bakers for our installation, as they were highly recommended by Woodcote Garden Centre in Wallington and we must say we are delighted with the outcome.
All the "Baker Boys", as we nicknamed them, were extremely courteous and polite during the course of installing our summer house. They did pick the hottest of days to build it and I must say that the heat did not stop them from working. They arrived early and worked till it was all assembled and ready for the electrician to do his bits a few days later.
We could not have picked a better team to install our summer house, they worked like trojans all day on the first day of installatin and the following week finishing off the painting and decorating after the elctrics were in. The way in which they worked as a team is an asset to them all, they all seemed very happy in their work and the finished product showed us just that! Having to contend with a very happy and lively dog did not deter them, in fact I think they quite liked it, even if he did steal a few pencils along the way! He has never had so much fuss made of him or had so much fun in his own back garden!! He is enjoying the summer house already!!
Having had to take my two weeks summer holiday to have the work carried out whilst also having complete double glazing installed with scaffolders present did not deter the "Baker Boys" and it was so nice to see the finished product in two weeks before I had to go back to work. At least I could show everybody the photographs and make them envious!
We must say a big thank you to them all, Keith, Martin, Kurt, Mark and Adam, all of whom were extremely helpful throughout the two weeks and all the staff at the warehouse who painted all the panels etc beforehand. We would also like to thank the office staff, especially Beverly, who was extremely courteous and polite on the phone and who helped us with any queries or problems we telephoned her with. Thank you for giving us something we are certainly going to enjoy during the summer and all year round too!
We must say it was good to view the different summer houses at your show room first before making a firm decision on what we wanted. Thank you Keith for sparing the time to show us around.
Once we have fully furnished our lovely summer house, we would love you to come back and take some further pictures for your website case studies.
Thank you again to a wonderful team effort from all of you, we will have no doubt in recommending you in the future.

Ashley and Paul (and of course Smudge the dalmation)!!"

Executive Sliding-Door Garden Room in Wallington, Surrey

Ashley and Paul were looking for a relatively large garden room to complete their home. A site survey was set up and all aspects of their requirements were looked at. They were looking not only for a room to be able to unwind and relax in but also somthing that would integrate with their beautiful garden and they decided on the sliding door building option as the best balance of garden integration and cost.

Upon doing the survey we decided that a steel and timber frame base was the best option as although the garden was large, access to the garden was restricted. We set the base 1m away from the rear fence to avoid the necessity of building regulations, and a 600mm decking installed to the front. Because of the lay of the land it was also decided to level up the right hand side of the ground and re-turf. Whilst on the survey we also looked at the electrical and submain requirements.

The size of the building was agreed at 6 metres width  x 3 metres depth, with 4.2 metre wide sliding doors. This gave enough space either side of the doors to add an extra full length window. Because the principal outlook from the building's interior was to the front and right hand side,  we made this nearly all window to give a fantastic overview of the garden. We installed two fanlight windows on the other side for ventilation. We also included two frosted fanlights to the rear so that light can enter from every angle. We then discussed all of the options available and this building includes some fantastic features such as the painted MDF internal lining, tile effect laminate floor and LowE double glazing. This double glazing is currently the most efficient on the market, and includes a self cleaning product on the outside and an argon gas and heat reflective internal option.

Once the base was in place we stoned the metre gap between the building and rear fence and installed guttering to the rear of the building, that was principally installed in a single day ready for electrics.

We also installed the internal electrics & submain which included two convector heaters, four double sockets, bar lights on dimmer, and another really nice touch are external LED down-lights on a dusk sensor so they light up automatically every evening. Whilst digging the trench for the electrical submain we also installed cabling to take future TV, Internet, and telephone .
