Sussex man cave case study

A Sussex family wanted a contemporary garden room to add valuable space to their new home and use as a year-round entertainment and chill out area. Find out how we designed and built the perfect 'man cave' for them.

The project - a man cave in Burgess Hill, West Sussex

This man cave project epitomises what the majority of our customers are looking for - extra living space to entertain friends and family, work from home and just generally chill out in.

When they first approached us, our clients were on the verge of buying their new home and wanted to install a garden building which would offer them all of the above.

The work - planning and building a man cave

After our initial phone call they visited our showground where they were able to view all our buildings and building options. As they wanted extra building height to comfortably accommodatethe client's 6'10" frame we decided to apply for planning permission.

Once all details had been confirmed, a site survey was set up with our planning advisor. Drawings were drawn up and the planning application was lodged while the purchase of the property was in progress. Once planning was granted, we set to work straight away as our clients wanted us to finish before they moved in.

We dismantled and disposed of an old garage with an asbestos roof before laying a steel and timber framed base ready for the building. Once complete, our dedicated electrician went in to get the electrics, heating, lighting and full communications package up and running. We were then able to put the finishing touches to the buiding - just in time for the big move day!

The result - a happy client!

Our client was delighted with their completed Sussex man cave. This is what they said:

"The work Bakers Timber did on our garden room was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. Bakers spent a lot of time initially helping us design the room to meet all of our needs whilst ensuring it was as stylish and contemporary as we had hoped for. The actual build was carried by a friendly and professional team who were very accommodating of our unique needs namely my disability and my 5 month old daughter. The end result has surpassed all of our expectations and is always a talking point. The room serves as my office and an entertaining venue and has given us valuable extra space. It has completed our new home".
