Multipurpose Poolside room in Surrey C/S 5564

Discover how we made this Surrey client extremely happy with a contemporary poolside summer house that incorporated a gym, relaxation/work space, fully-equipped entertaining area, and garden storage.

The Project – a Surrey poolside summer house

Our clients were recommended to us by Home Counties Swimming pools as they had recently visited them to look at installing a pool at their Surrey property. They were looking for a multi-purpose, contemporary poolside summer house they could use for changing, relaxing and entertaining; a gym area and also to provide office space for when they were working from home.

They dropped in to our show centre after visiting Home Counties and met with Martin Baker, who showed them round the show centre and talked over the various options and finishes available.

Martin arranged to visit their property to see the space available and discuss their vision in further detail. Following the site survey he was able to provide our clients with an initial quotation. They then re-visited the Bakers Show Centre to see the finishes and options, enabling us to finalise costs and complete the design before proceeding with the project.

The work - designing a contemporary, versatile Surrey summer house

The clients wanted a contemporary design a modern paint colour for their Surrey poolside summer house, and decided on a 'basalt grey' (RAL 7012). They also wanted to maximise the space at the end of their garden, and needed a building that fulfilled all of their requirements.

They wanted a summer house large and versatile enough to house their gym equipment,  as well as a relaxation area and entertaining space. The relaxation area needed to be suitable for when they worked from home, and for a changing space for before and after using the pool.

We fitted our "Aquastep" wet room flooring in "Beach house Oak" so the client didn't need to worry about wet feet. And because the multi-purpose room needed to be used in all weathers and temperatures, the client chose to upgrade to LowE, Planitherm, argon warm edge, bioclean Natura glass.

Installing a sound system for use while the client relaxed and used their gym was important, and they chose a Sonos' sound system which runs off the 'home automation' app. An air conditioning unit was vital too, and we arranged to install this as well.

They decided on a pent roof with an EPDM roof covering, which not only gave them the lowest maintenance option possible but also allowed them maximum head height for their gym equipment.

As the summer house needed to accomodate garden storage plus a plant room for all the filtration equipment for the pool, the total building size was 10m x 3.2m (29.9sqm internally). We installed fantastic tri-sliding doors which, when open, fold right back so as not to compromise on any loss of space.

Although the client liked the popular 'anthracite' colour, they wanted something a little lighter and chose 'basalt grey' (7012), choosing to also colour match their aluminium tri-sliding doors and windows. Their colour matched exterior Medite Tricoya Extreme (MTX) cladding, trims and fascia's completed the sleek and modern look.

With no timber on the outside this project comes with a 10 year full guarantee, a 30-50 year life expectancy and the lowest maintenance possible.

Our clients took the opportunity to add decking and we clad a new gate and panels in Medite Tricoya Extreme (MTX) to match their room, which hid 2 air source heat pumps and the climate control condenser, giving them a fully integrated room and garden.

We built and decked the area surrounding their contemporary summer house in composite 'Twinson' decking – a great choice for durability and low maintenance, with artificial grass to the rest for all year round use of the entire garden

The result - the clients were "over the moon"

Working with Home Counties and the contractor this was an amazing transformation, and our Surrey-based clients were over the moon both with their finished contemporary poolside summer house, and the service given by everyone.
