Find out how we saved one delighted Kent customer the cost of an extension, by building them an Endless Pool room with stunning views.
Initially the client for this Kent project were considering a house extension to accommodate the Endless pool they had always dreamed of having. But once they found us online, visited our showground and offices, and had booked a site visit by Martin Baker, they decided instead to build a year-round garden room to accomodate an Endless Pool.
As their property enjoys outstanding views of the French coast, the clients opted for our aluminium bi-folding doors, which offer maximum opening and integration. The building itself measures 30sqm, which is the largest permitted without having to apply for planning permission, and allows enough room for not only the swimming pool but to also comfortably accommodate a lounge/seating area and give a general feeling of space.
We worked alongside the customer's builder for the baseworks as well as Home Counties who supplied and fitted the Endless Pool, which has been half inset in the ground to give a sleek and modern appearance and also maximises on the available headroom available above pool.
A great additional feature is the custom made corridor we designed and manufactured which connects the main house directly to the pool room for easy access and features full length column windows and is painted with Sadolin Superdec's 'Signal Grey' to match. Because of the snug positioning of the building, it was important that the corridor be exactly positioned so as to fit correctly.
As the pool room is visible from three sides, the clients chose the v-groove Medite Tricoya Extreme (MTX) cladding, which offers a flawless finish once painted. It also features painted internals in 'Mineral Baths', Aquastep flooring in 'Beach House Oak', a full electrics package, our EPDM rear roof and height package, vented pump house, and clever xpelair fans designed to switch on automatically once certain humidity levels within the building have been reached.
This finished Endless Pool room is extremely well considered, and offers the clients a great alternative option to a costly home extension, without compromising on quality, function or stylish appearance.
The client said of the result:
"We researched our indoor pool requirements for over a year before settling for an Endless Pool installed in a Bakers garden room, with a side door to the main house for all year use. Bakers were introduced to us by recommendation after researching a number of suppliers and options, none of which until that point came anywhere near to our expectations.
The building is set at the side of our house, looking out across the garden to the sea beyond, and the views from the pool building, especially with the bi-fold doors open are stunning, due in large part to good building design maximizing the view.
The ground works, including a pit for the partially in ground pool, the building base and patio were carried out by a local builder, all other aspects of the project were undertaken by Bakers and Home Counties Pools from Horsham.
We specified the building with the aforementioned bi-fold doors and elected for low-e partially reflective glazing, which not only exhibits good thermal properties but has the added benefit of helping the building blend in to its surroundings.
The Bakers installation team installed the building in close liaison with the pool installers, and they were professional and polite on site, and have left us with an excellent well finished result which is easy to live with".
