Home Gym Case Study 4984

Customer Comment:
"I wanted to build a gym in a fairly wooded corner of my garden that would be big enough for my family to use. I was looking for a company that could manage the whole project from start to finish, including the planning application given the height required. I found Bakers Timber Buildings via a local garden centre and went to visit their showroom in Haywards Heath. There was a good sample of buildings on display that helped us to plan our final design and I had confidence that Martin and his team could handle the whole project efficiently after discussing final specifications. The whole project ran smoothly and on time and the team took the time to discuss ideas to help us finish the landscaping towards the end. Martin and the team really take pride in their work and in providing a building that meets all expectations. The gym is used regularly by family and friends and I would have no hesitation in recommending Bakers Timber if you're looking for a company that can design and build to your specifications and handle the whole project from start to finish

Executive Home Gym in Caterham, Surrey

Mr and Mrs H approached us through one of our agents. We are proud to offer an identical service whether our customers come to us directly or through one of our selected outlets.

From an initial telephone conversation,  a provisional quotation was provided. From there we visited the potential site and discussed in detail all of the building's requirements which then enabled us to create a formal quotation. As with all our projects we don't provide estimations but rather detailed and exact quotations, giving you the peace of mind of knowing the entire cost of the project before committing to it.
Even though the building is 5.7 m wide and 4 m deep, due to all of the gym equipment going into this building, the layout had to be millimetre perfect. The customer visited our extensive Showground where we tied up all of the details, the exact positions and size of every window and the internals required for the machines.
The building was to be positioned in a slightly wasted wooded area of the property and sloped around 400mm. Because the building needed to be 2.2m high at the rear and due to the proximity to the boundaries, planning permission was necessary. As we offer our customers the complete package, we supplied the necessary drawings together with the application itself and permission was duly granted.
We then set to work with installing the building's base and as this is on sloping ground, we retained the left-hand side to reduce the height of the base from the ground and then extended out to the front with the decking area.

Whilst the base was being installed the building was being manufactured according to the drawings agreed to by the customer.  This building had our 4.2m wide timber effect UPVC sliding doors, which works really well with the 'Walnut' Sikkens topcoat preservative applied.
Internally the building has the plain MDF boarding with the building regulation firewall to the right hand side. Our 'Western Oak' laminate flooring works perfectly with the 'Angora' coloured walls and we then fitted the 2.2m X 3.8M mirror to the back, positioning them between the two rear opening fanlights.
Along with our standard electrical package which includes two convector heaters, sockets and LED internal and external lighting,  We also installed a walkover floor socket - positioned perfectly for the running machine and bike. To work alongside the heating we also have the most efficient double glazing on the market today including: bio-coolight self cleaning, argon gas and warm edge with a Planitherm internal heat reflective coating.
After the building itself was completed, we helped design and complete the general landscaping of the area.
