Find out how we delighted one Sussex family with the perfect all year round games room and family entertainment space.
A family in Lindfield, West Sussex approached us as they were looking to extend their living space into the garden. They had converted a bungalow into a lovely home, and had an area of the garden now crying out for a room.
Principally they were looking for a games room for their two sons, but they also wanted a summer house they could use for entertaining friends and family throughout the year.
After a site survey and visit to our Sussex show centre, the clients decided the UPVC doors offered them the best balance of cost and garden integration. They chose Ral 7004 signal grey for the external cladding in our Medite Tricoya Extreme (MTX) vertical V-groove, with the doors in the White grain foil as a lovely contrast.
To give the games room a feeling of height inside while keeping within the 2.5m height planning rule, they opted for our EPDM roof with rear height package (this also came with guttering). Internally the building was finished in our v-groove MDF in Timeless acrylic egg shell.
They also wanted the games room to house their fridge and freezer tha had been taking up space in the garage. However, they didn't want this to ruin the look of the room, so we designed a purpose made cupboard to house both units with vents and flush secret doors.
The site already had a large shed on an existing base, so we dismantled the shed and removed the base, as well as some spoil to the left. Once the site was cleared we installed our steel and timber framed base, electrical submain and other services.
During the project, the client decided to add an extended patio to the front, so we accommodated this into our schedule and laid a large Indian sandstone patio, finished with grey pointing. While the building was being completed, the family were busy finding the perfect games for the room and cleverly colour-matched nearly every item.
To work with the Signal Grey colour, they found a football table with grey and white men, and the pool table and arcade machine look perfectly considered. Not only did the cupboard house the fridge and freezer, they also hid the cue holder and we fitted a shelf for drinks etc.
The result - a games room any child (or adult!) would love
The finished result was stunning and the clientwas very happy:
"We are very pleased with our new garden building which was designed and erected by Bakers Timber Buildings. At the start of the process we had an idea in our minds of what we wanted. Martin Baker and his team helped make our idea a reality and in fact made improvements.
From inception through to completion, we found the whole process very easy and informative. Martin managed the project with great care and attention to detail. Once the build programme was agreed, it was carried out by the team without delay and on time (even in the challenging weather conditions).
We also had a patio area to the front of the building. Owing to the heavy workload of the team, they volunteered to sacrifice their weekends to finish the patio work, which was very much appreciated. The work came in on time and budget.
As stated the whole process was enjoyable. Every member of the team that assisted us were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They did a very professional job and they also looked after our property during the building phase. We cannot recommend Martin and Bakers Timber Buildings enough. Thank you".
