Garden Room Case Study 5214

Customer Comment:
"When I moved house recently I planned to build a new ceramics workshop and had earmarked a setting in in the garden overlooking the pond. I just had to find the perfect building that met all my practical needs but also looked good, so I set about an Internet search. The Bakers Timber Buildings website stood head and shoulders above the rest. It illustrated a wide range of buildings and offered an informative approach detailing their high specifications and their flexibility in design. I particularly liked the case studies showing the setting of the buildings and the video tours of the internal features which brought the projects to life

Things then happened quickly. Within the week I had visited Bakers showroom and selected the building to best meet my needs - Martin Baker did a site visit and we met again to select flooring and finishes etc. A price was agreed, and a date was set for the construction. Despite the heavy winter weather and knee deep mud, the construction team were excellent and brought the job in on time. Hardworking, unfailing polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile.

The building is beautifully finished, blends effortlessly into its surroundings and looks like it has always been there. Having so much glass I was initially concerned about glare and temperature control, but the insulation is excellent and the tinted glass allows me to watch the wild life in the garden and the ducks on the pond, without them seeing me. I am delighted with my new workshop and feel that the whole project, from initial idea to completed building has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Bakers wholeheartedly."

Merlin Garden Room Featuring Gabled Glass in Heathfield, East Sussex

Mr & Mrs K came to us looking for a realtively large garden room to be used as a pottery studio. A site survey was completed that confirmed all aspects of their requirements. It was important for them to have a building that would blend into their beautiful garden environment.
After our initial quotations, followed by a site survey, we were able to give a full and final quotation for approval.
We then set to work with installing the building's base and as the land sloped 380mm out of level ground, this was first levelled out before laying the steel & timber framed base and then faced off with decking to the front and sides.

The size of the building was agreed at 18ft wide and 12ft deep. This gave enough space either side of the doors for 3 full length column windows. Because the principal outlook from the building's interior was to the front,  we made this nearly all window by addidg gabled glass, to give a fantastic overview of the garden. We installed an additional 4 column windows and two fanlight windows on the other side for optimum light and ventilation.  We then discussed all of the options available and this building includes some fantastic features such as the painted MDF internal lining, 'Silver Oak'laminate flooring and LowE planitherm, argon warm edge bio-clean natura double glazing. This double glazing is currently the most efficient on the market, and includes a self cleaning product on the outside and an argon gas and heat reflective internal option.
The exterior is painted in 'Jungle Green' to really integrate with the garden area and surroundings.

We also installed the internal electrics & submain which included convector heater, 8 double sockets and bar lights on dimmer.
