Sporty Summerhouse - 5240

Case study project portfolio > Endless Pool Rooms > Sporty Summerhouse - 5240

Stunning Endless Pool summer house in Essex

Find out how we designed and built the perfect year-round Endless Pool summer house (with plenty of training room) for an Essex-based triathlete.

The project - an Endless Pool room in Bishops Stortford, Essex

The customer for this project was a high performance triathlete competing at the highest level of this endurance sport. They were looking for an Endless Pool room with building to optimise their training facilities.

The work - building a sporty summer house in Essex

Once the customer had visited our showground and viewed our buildings and all the options available, we conducted a site survey to confirm the remaining details.

We designed a garden room measuring 18 x 14ft, with two boards of extra height to maximise interior headroom. As this took the overall building height to over 2.50m we applied for and were awarded planning permission before starting the project.

We also added our new gabled glass feature, which offers increases natural light and gives the building a stylish and contemporary appearance.

Lined, insulated and double glazed, this summer house can be used all year round, and is spacious enough to accommodate additional training equipment as well.

The building's exterior was painted in Sadolin Superdec Jungle Green, and as the building was positioned right up against the garden's boundary, we cladded the rear and right hand side with our zero maintenance firewall.

The interior of the building was painted in and acrylic eggshell in Angora, and also features Aquastep flooring in Beachouse Oak.

We installed a full electrics package and added an exterior matching pumphouse and store as the finishing touch.

The result - a stylish Endless Pool room

The client was delighted with the finished product - as was his dog!

"We visited Baker's site in the Spring of 2015 and were well looked after by Keith, leaving with lots of information, some fresh ideas and a detailed breakdown of the cost. After a site visit from Martin we decided upon the Merlin in Jungle Green and quickly received detailed plans. The architectural glass in the front of our building was suggested by Martin and was, I believe, the first of its kind that they had built. This addition transformed what was already a good looking building into something special. The light that comes through into the pool house, even on a dull winter's day, makes it a true all year round building.

Due to the internal height we needed for the pool and treadmill, planning consent was required and this was dealt with smoothly by Martin and his architect Tim. All of the building work went to plan and was carried out with the minimum of fuss and disruption by a professional and friendly team who clearly took pride in their work.

A particular plus for us was the way Martin worked in partnership with the Endless Pool people. Their schedule of work not only dovetailed perfectly, but also the particular requirements of the pool in terms of floor layout and space for the pipe work to the outside pump building were expertly catered for. All of the electrics were also completed by Bakers, including the specialised installation required by the Endless pool fitters.

We are delighted with the finished result and cannot overstate how happy we are with every aspect of our dealings with Bakers Timber Buildings and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

...And the dog found the builders delicious"
