The UK Government is legally committed to reducing carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. The case for action on a broad range of environmental issues is compelling. SHIFT members are leading the sector.

SHIFT members have stepped forward for independent assessment of their performance and have committed themselves to continuous improvement. SHIFT enables improvement through comprehensive assessment, benchmarking analysis and robust guidance. Public awards drive improvement through commercial recognition and a Learning Year helps members to share best practice and address specific challenges.

Accreditation includes a respected SHIFT Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze badge illustrating your performance in leading the way.

"SHIFT is a comprehensive tool for registered housing providers to measure and reduce their environmental impact. The Homes and Communities Agency is interested to see more providers join the SHIFT best practice group" Kevin G McGeough, RIBA, FRSA, Senior Strategy Manager (Sustainable Places), Homes and Communities Agency.

SHIFT Assessments

Members find assessments useful for a number of reasons:

  • Clear comparisons on performance against peers;
  • A benchmark on performance so that future improvements can be recorded;
  • Bespoke recommendations on how to improve.

SHIFT Events

Full SHIFT membership entitles members to attend all SHIFT Learning Year events. The events bring members together with leading experts in the field to share best practice and plan real actions which focus on challenges identified in the assessment process.
